Members of the Woppaburra Saltwater Aboriginal Corporation and Woppaburra TUMRA joined in on a community planting hosted by the KIEEC P&C on Konomie in early June 2023.
The Project has seen a number of plantings carried out over the last 8 months involving the P&C, Capricorn Coast Landcare and Capricorn Conservation Council volunteers. The aim of the plantings was to help build a resilient buffer on the dunes to prevent the adverse impacts of extreme weather events.
KIEEC P&C President Jeff Krause said ” I really liked the way the community has supported this activity and of course it is really special to have the Woppaburra Traditional Owners take part.”
